The operatives of the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) recovered a tanker and some materials from suspected vandals around NNPC pipeline along Igando/Ikotun area.
An anonymous resident who spoke with our reporter said that about three days ago, the people of the area noticed some persons coming to inspects the pipeline.
“So, early in the morning yesterday, when we saw a tanker arrive the place we immediately alerted the LNSC and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps who moved down to the area but unfortunately, the suspects ran away’’.
Another resident, Mr Ojo Taiwo said that it was not the first time suspected vandals come to siphon the PMS product at the area but NNPC officials never acted on information given to them by the locals.
“However, this time when we noticed strange movement some days back we reported to LNSC and NSCDC to prevent further disaster in the area.
“Fire incidents have destroyed lives and properties worth millions of naira through pipeline fire outbreaks caused by suspected vandals.
“To avoid further occurrence, we plead for the presence of security agencies in this area,’’ he noted.
Iya Gani, a pretty trader around the pipeline said the activities of the suspected vandals within the area have put their lives in danger.
“I don’t know why this people do not have fear for themselves by playing with fire.
“All the time you see them coming to carry fuel with jerrycan and we cannot challenge them even the officials helpless.
