Lagos: Why Governor Sanwo-Olu came too early

Lagos: Why Governor Sanwo-Olu came too early– by Opeyemi Eniola

Every Leader have their own leadership style and every of the speciality comes with a price. For Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, he came too late when Nigerians are so used to leaders with high handedness!
Truly for a state like Lagos State, everyone would have expected a strict Governor, especially at a time when the nation is battling with various issues: insecurity, inflation, high poverty rate among others. But for many Nigerians, Lagos State is not just a safe abode but a city that creates more prosperous people.
And when one recalls how the amiablee Governor once hit the ground running during the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, one cannot but hail his genuine concern.
Indeed, for Nigerians and Nigeria, Governor Sanwo-Olu and Lagos is more of a “Big Brother” who directly or indirectly accommodates; bringing succour to the people – and creating more prosperous people.
Still, for a man who understands the sensitivity of the current situation in Nigeria, he doesn’t confront issues like his colleagues from the southern and northern parts of the country, needless I start mentioning names.
For Sanwo-Olu, he is not seeing himself as “the Almighty Executive Governor” but rather an ordinary Lagosian who is privileged to serve, and this was evident  from his request to drop the Title “His Excellency” and simply prefered the prefix: Mr. Governor.
This soft minded fellow would rather be appreciated more in developed countries, where the citizens and their Representatives have time out and see themselves as “equal” rather than having a bully at the helm of affairs.
Truly Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu came too late but he has given us reason to be pleased with him, executing projects without unnecessary publicity; commissioning projects instead of the usual owanbe partying, and treating everyone as human: I welcome you to the world of an Omoluabi!
Welcome to another dispensation with the “Listening Governor”.
