LASG RECOVERS RIGHT OF WAY IN BADAGRY HINTERLAND

 

… Affected Property Owners will be duly Compensated

 

The Lagos State Government on Friday declared its intention to recover the Right of Way of Aradagun-Imeke-Iworo-Ajido- Epeme-roads in Badagry Local Government Area of the State, saying that all identified Property Owners affected by this development will be duly compensated.

 

In a statement, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye at a Stakeholders’ meeting in Badagry LGA said “the administration of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is an all inclusive government which dialogues and plans with its citizens before embarking on any development that affects them. The State Government is therefore proposing the construction of the highest grade of roads with interlocking bricks in these communities to ensure sustainable physical and socio-economic development of the area.

 

The Commissioner, who was represented by Tpl (Mrs.) Philomena Adenuga said, “I want to assure all affected Property Owners that the state government would compensate   accordingly. The state government has embarked on massive development across the state and has been committed in the payment of compensation to all affected Property Owners in Epe, Ikorodu, Irede, Agege Pen Cinema amongst others. I encourage you to submit any relevant documents such as Land receipt, Survey Plan, Approved Building Plan Permit or any document which would serve as proof of ownership along with the copies of the Statutory Notices served to your structures to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development located at Block 15, the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja. This will facilitate the payment of compensation”.

 

“I also want to urge you to ensure that developments embarked upon in these areas after the intervention of the State Government is done in line with the Badagry Masterplan. Adhere to Town Planning and Building Laws and Regulations to ensure a sustainable physical environment. – she disclosed.

 

Earlier, the Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Adekunle Osude commended the Lagos State Government for the laudable project and encouraged the stakeholders to take advantage of the six-month window given by the Government to all owners of existing structures in the State to regularise their documents without Penal Charges. He revealed that the amnesty offer which commenced 1st March would lapses on August 31st, 2018 and warned that submission after the grace period would attract Penal Charges.

 

Analysing the Project Brief, the Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Works, Engr. Oladotun Lasoju said, the recovery of Right of Way would require the removal of structures which pose as encumbrances for the reconstruction and upgrade of these road network to take place. The proposed alignment is 6.6km with 21m width Right of Way transverses three settlements (Iworo, Ajido and Epeme). The road alignment started from the end of the newly constructed Iwere Bridge and at about 600m into the length swerved away from the existing roads thereby affecting some structures in the core area of Imeke town.

 

On the Contributions from Stakeholders, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Oladele Idris Kosoko Ogundeyi II, Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Adamson Shaheed Temitope Sedonu, Toyiga I of Ajido and HRM, Oba Abraham Olatunji Ogabi (JP), Oyikilu I, Ajagunle of Imeke Kingdom  acknowledged the project as a welcomed development which would at completion be of immense benefits to their communities. They appealed to their wards to cooperate with the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) and Government officials assigned to supervise the project to ensure seamless completion.
