Let’s impregnate Nigeria with prayers – Akinyemi

By Ifeoma Ikem

Dr Bolaji Akinyemi, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, and convener Apostle Round Table(ART), a non-profit making organization, has called on citizens to impregnate Nigeria with prayers.

Akinyemi gave the charge at the second annual Independence Day walk of PVC tagged; I-Walk, across the nation.

“I will suggest that the people should impregnate Nigeria with prayers, with good ideas so that she can deliver fruitfulness’.

The annual walk is to celebrate the independence of the country and it is an advocacy group that brings developmental engagement through project initiations.

“We have other projects such as Community Political Education (CPE), A Night 4 Naija, Community Ambassador for Peaceful Election (CAPE), and Legislative Revolution Network (LRN), which are all up and running.

“This year’s I-Walk had different inscriptions written on the placards of participants such as “I-Walk for justice,” “freedom,” “accountability,” “drug abuse,” “transparency,” “equality,” “free expression,” “cultism” etc.

“These were used to create awareness, most especially about happenings in the country, and for the people not to lose hope.

Akinyemi noted that the I-Walk was designed to emphasis “good governance” in Nigeria.

Akinyemi described the hardship being experienced currently as “national infidelity” where most of the people who are married to Nigeria are not faithful but are greedy to her.

He also lamented on the death of a young, budding music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, who was brought down almost at his moment of glory by circumstances surrounding his death.

He stressed on the need for parental care which he says is necessary when training a child at an early stage in life, adding that children need proper monitoring.

According to Akinyemi, “drugs, social vices and cultism related issues would be avoided if we engage our youths in creating more awareness through I-walk to say no to drug abuse and cultism”.

Mrs Elizabeth Adeola-Oluwadotun, a participant who joined the walk, also spoke about the impact of I-Walk on women.

“We all hope and believe in Nigeria. I had vision of restoration coming back to Nigeria and it gingered me to join the convener of I-Walk”. she said.

Oluwadotun stated that so many things have happened to the country in the past, such as COVID-19 pandemic, amongst others, but could not consume the nation.

A clergyman, Rev Gideon Gbekeloluwa, expressed his optimism about our country Nigeria.

He further emphasized on the need to create awareness which will in turn promote freedom, accountability, and things that could add to the well-being of Nigerians.

“If I do not believe in the betterment of Nigeria, then I don’t believe in what we are doing here, I have no other country apart from Nigeria” he said.

“We hope and believe in God and I refuse to be frustrated about what’s currently going on in the country.
