Mandate Group Extols Supreme Court Ruling, Hails Sanwo-Olu’s Victory

Lagos witnessed jubilation as The Mandate Movement (TMM), a pivotal group affiliated with the All Progressive Congress (APC), extended warm congratulations to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, in the wake of a resounding victory affirmed by the Supreme Court in Abuja.

The legal victory centred around the court’s recognition of Sanwo-Olu’s deputy as a Nigerian by birth. Stressing that the renunciation of citizenship must be officially registered by the Nigerian president, the court dismissed claims against the governor for lack of evidence in this regard. Notably, the appeal by the Labour Party Candidate was deemed lacking in merit.

In a twist, Abdulazeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, from the PDP, raised concerns about disparities between the name Sanwo-Olu submitted to INEC and his WAEC certificate. The court also dismissed the allegations for lack of merit.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s monumental victory in the March elections, securing an impressive 762,134 votes, resonates with the overwhelming support of the populace. The Mandate Movement expressed gratitude for the dedication of its members who played a pivotal role in ensuring the APC’s success at all levels.

In an official statement signed by Prince Adewale Arogundade on behalf of Chairman Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo, the group commended the unwavering commitment of APC leaders, members, and dynamic individuals within The Mandate Movement. Their tireless efforts significantly contribute to the ongoing progress and development of Lagos state.

The statement extends an invitation to opposition parties to unite with Governor Sanwo-Olu and the APC, emphasizing that governance takes precedence over political activities. It calls on Nigerians to also continue their support for Tinubu’s administration, assuring that the president remains devoted to fulfilling his promises.
