Nollywood superstar, Halima Abubakar has joined other colleagues to mourn the shocking death of veteran comic actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu.
Amb Halima, who has been off the movie scene for a while, described the late Mr Ibu as a colleague she had a good working and personal relationship with, describing his death as a big one for Nigeria.
Mr Ibu died on Saturday, 2 March, at the age of 62 after a prolonged battle with ailment.
In the words of Amb Halima: “Such a tragedy I swear. We both speak Hausa language, so whenever we met it was Hausa all through. He was telling me about his story in Zaria and Kano. It’s been really shocking. Rip legend sir.
“He actually wanted to manage my career years ago. When I was coming up in the industry, he was nothing but hilarious and gave me advice upon advice because I told him things I was going through…I am heartbroken and I wish the family strength and peace. More prayers to all.
“And to his wife Stella Maris, I wish you the fortitude to bear the loss 🙏 And to Nollywood we lost a big one.”
