N5m Fine: Apostle Suleman Warns Leaders ”Address Fake News, Don’t Silence Nigerians”

The Senior pastor at the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) worldwide,  Apostle (Prof.) Johnson Suleman has criticised the proposed N5 million fine for hate speech by the federal government

.

Recall that some days ago, the Minister of Information and culture, Lai Muhammed announced this new development while inaugurating the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Reform Implementation Committee said Buhari approved the upward review of fines from N500,000 to N5 million for breaches relating to hate speeches, inciting statements.

Reacting to this, the famous clergy expressed that this plan is a deliberate attempt to silence critics.  On his Twitter page, the Apostle Suleman wrote: “Just read about N5m fine for hate speech, there is a thin line between freedom of speech and hate speech.

“This is a deliberate attempt to silence people, we could backdate its implementation to 2014.” what should be addressed is fake news, lies been peddled and unverified stories. That way, there will be media-sanity. But with this move by the government, every voiced opinion that appears confrontational to government will be tagged ‘hate speech’. Leaders, always remember you won’t be in power forever.”

The ‘Restoration Apostle then prayed that God visits Nigeria and rescue the poor from bad leadership.

He wrote: ”Lord visit Nigeria with your mercy. Take out everyone against our wellbeing, whether among the rulers or the opposition. Give us people who will take care of the poor and give jobs. Make nigeria a place no one will be willing to leave. We know it will come to pass in Jesus name.”
