NAPS Declares War on MTN Over Data Tariff Hike, Threatens Nationwide Shutdown

In a fiery press statement, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has condemned MTN’s recent data tariff increase, calling it a direct attack on students’ education and an act of corporate greed.

NAPS President, Comrade Festus Oyewumi, expressed outrage over the hike, stating that students heavily depend on affordable data for research, assignments, and academic success. The association warned that the increase would severely impact students’ ability to complete their studies.

“This is a blatant disregard for the welfare of Nigerian students. We will not stand by while MTN exploits us for profit,” Oyewumi declared.

The student body has issued a 10-day ultimatum for MTN to reverse the price increase, warning of massive nationwide protests and potential shutdowns of the telecom giant’s offices if their demands are not met.

“We will not be silenced or intimidated. If MTN fails to comply, we will mobilize, occupy their offices, and ensure they feel the full weight of our resistance,” Oyewumi added.

NAPS is calling on students nationwide to prepare for mass action if MTN does not roll back the tariff hike, vowing to continue the fight until affordable data access is restored.

For now, all eyes are on MTN as the countdown begins. Will they heed the students’ call, or will they face the wrath of Nigeria’s polytechnic students?
