Nasarawa State Police Command has said it would prosecute the killer of a student of Government Science School, Lafia. The state Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Bello, disclosed this to newsmen yesterday in Lafia, saying “as soon as investigation is concluded, the culprit will be charged to court.”
According to the commissioner, the culprit is still in detention pending the completion of investigation. Bello, therefore, assured members of the public that the police would do everything possible to protect lives and property in the state.
All efforts to reach the alleged culprit, Mr. Khaleel Almakura, who is son of the state governor, failed as the police continued to shield him from public view.Latest information about the victim, Amos Ovey, revealed that he was a Junior Secondary School (JSS) Two student, and the only surviving son out of the three children born to the Ovey family.
It would be recalled that Amos Ovey was crushed to death by governor Almakura’s son while crossing a road adjacent the school hostel to buy battery for his touch light around 8:00p.m. on Monday.Ovey has since been buried according to Islamic rite, amid tears by parents, classmates and relations.
