*National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANS-D) Host Historic Global Summit in South Africa*
The inaugural NANS-D global summit was held in Sandton, South Africa, November 23rd 2024, bringing together over 100 students from around the world. The summit’s theme, “Uniting Minds and Shaping the Future of Nigerian Students in Diaspora,” reflected the event’s focus on collaboration and empowerment.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Nigerian Politicians, Hon Ekos Akpokabayen, Engr Femi Adeleke, and Dr Opeoluwaseun Ojekemi. The summit was successfully organized by the NANS-D President, Chris Fayomi Juwon (PhD in view) and his local committee, led by Chairman Barrister Smart Nwobi, a renowned South African lawyer, with his vice, Mabel Edonmi and Secretary Sylvia Akpotue also playing key roles in the event’s planning.
The summit featured five panel discussions on the impact of Nigerian students in diaspora and their roles in building a dream nation. Students from the UK, Australia, Turkey, China, Nigeria, Spain, USA, and South Africa participated in the discussions, making the event a truly global gathering.
The summit marked a historic milestone for Nigerian students in diaspora, as it was the first event of its kind.
