The wife of Niger state governor Dr Mrs Amina Abubakar Sanni Bello have urged Nigeria’s to take proactive step to carry out voluntary test to detect early symptoms of cancer which make it easy for quick treatment.
Niger state First Lady spoke at the weekend in Lagos during the “Iloya”a dancing event organised by a non governmental organisation Niola cancer care foundation on affiliate of global colon cancer association.
According to her early detection of the symptom of cancer will go a long way to save life.
She noted that some equipment have been procure in Niger state national hospital to support the treatment of the deadly disease.
The founder Niola cancer care foundation Mrs Saliu Akintunde said “as a victim of cancer scourge through her late husband who was initially diagnosed for malaria typhoid but subsequently discovered through screening test to have had a coloretal cancer and later loss his life after spending fortune within and outside the country”.
According to her it was a traumatizing experience that inspired her passionate commitment to advocacy on cancer related initiatives programmes and projects “.
She told the audience that cancer does not have a cure and cankerworm is based on worldhealth organisation statistics is fast killing than malaria and any other disease.
The foundation presented award to selected personalities who have contributed immensely in the fight against cancer scourge. Among the awardees are the First Lady of Niger state Dr Mrs Amina Bello, also nollywood actor Keppy Ekponyong and journalist from Thisday newspaper Mr Martin Ifijeh who received award on positive influence and media support.
