Nigeria will overcome its challenges, Methodist Church prelate assures

By Ifeoma Ikem

Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Oliver Ali Aba, has congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of another yuletide season, assuring that the nation will rise again.

He spoke against the backdrop of recent challenges facing the country, while addressing newsmen in his yuletide message at the church’s national headquarters, Wesley House, in Marina,Lagos.

“There is hope for all Nigerians; as long as Jesus is alive, every challenge is temporary,” the cleric observed.

“A time shall come when all these (things) we are passing through shall come to an end because Jesus loves Nigeria; that is why the country is at peace. Even at this level, we are growing gradually.”

According to Dr Oliver, for the country to get to it’s desired destination, the leadership and followership must of necessity imbibe the fear of God, and diligently carry out any assigned tasks.

His words: “I pray that our leaders may all have the fear of God, even all of us the people, and be faithful to every assignment given to us.
“Let this country be our country, we have no other country we can call our own; so all hands must be on deck. Let no one blame another. If you discover the way of success, follow it. So that whatever it takes, we can make Nigeria better.”

The cleric further noted the need for all “to work together to produce a better future for our yet unborn children, because Christ has given us peace, life and joy at this level.”

He said should the present generation fail in providing basic amenities that will drive development and growth of the economy, their unborn children will only have curses for them.

He added that the country remained one till now, only because “we were able to surmount all the problems since last year until now.” And it will continue to stay one, according to Dr Oliver, because “the Lord is alive, and he’ll do the same; and because he’s alive, everything around us shall speak well for us.”
