Nigerian youths Ask Justice Okon Abang to Hands-off Maina’s case
Nigerian Youths have stormed the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, demanding that Justice Okon Abang must hands-off Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja to hands-off the case of the Former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, in the interest of Justice and fairness.
Citing the Justice’s reaction to the absence of Maina during trial on September 29 and 30 over health challenges despite a tendered medical report from Maitama District Hospital, where the judged had on 29th and 30th of September 2020, his kinsmen say justice and fairness cannot be assured.
Speaking through their Spokesman, John Dangana, they accused the presiding judge of biase in handling the trial of the accused person.
According to them, it is a healthy and living person that can face trial.
They further posited that a careful observation of the proceedings so far, reveals that Justice Abang has descended into the arena of conflict, noting that he has on various occasions teleguided the prosecution team on how to conduct their case in open court.
It was also alleged that the trial judge has been guilty of prejudicial statements on different occasions in open court against the Maina, in what they described as a manner that suggests a preconceived judgment.
They said they are of a firm view that Justice Okon Abang will not try the accused person, Abdulrasheed Maina in fairness and equity.
The youths posited that Maina deserves to be paid 5% for recovering N1.3Tri and N1.6Tri for successive administrations in accordance with the whistleblower police instead of being persecuted.
