Following the dry spell occasioned by the harmattan season, the Ogun state public works agency (OGPWA) has commenced repairs of road network across the nooks and crannies of the state.
General Manager of the Agency, Arch. Gbenga Akintola during an interview said that the process was energized by a resolve to continually ease the stress the general public could be going through from moving from one place to another and making Ogun state a deserving place to live in.
Arch Akintola said that the road repairs project would be a continuous process that would constantly cut across the 3 senatorial districts of the state as filling of potholes and road patching have already been completed on some road network in Abeokuta that include, Kuto market road, up to Isabo, Oke-yeke, Nawarudeen. Others include, Obasanjo way-Ita iyalode, Ija-ofa up to Olowu’s palace, while Sabo, up to Sogbala street was not left out in the first phase of repairs.
At Ijebu Ode, the GM revealed that Idobi, Oke Aje road, up to Luba, Erunwon junction have been duly touched, just as Tam Balogun, G.R.A road down to TASUED secondary school junction have been repaired. The dreaded Awokoya, UBA road down to Awokoya Isale, Bonojo to Mosun café road too were equally repaired while the drainage was de-silted.
In Ogun west, the OGPWA train moved to Sola Oguntade street, Ayetoro Yewa, Tunde Ibikunle road, Ilaro , not forgetting Iganmode Grammar school road, Ota where the bad portions of these roads were repaired.
He however enjoined the populace to be wary of acts that could sabotage the efforts of government in road construction and maintenance such as littering the drains with debris, operating a car wash facility without a recourse to where the water would flow into and pouring of engine oil on the asphalted road, saying that the list is not exhaustive as anything that could jeopardize the lifespan of road network should be avoided.
He assured the general public and all those anxious about getting their road repaired that it will soon be there turn.
