OGUN PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR INDUSTRIES GROWTH

 

 

In a bid to strengthen the existence of industries in the face of the economic realities in the country, the Ogun State Government has vowed to do all within its means to support the growth of companies across its 20 local government areas.

This was revealed by the Commissioner for Industries, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, during his strategic visit to African Industries Group ( AIG),Agbara in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of the State.

Sofela in company of the Permanent Secretary and other top Management staff of the Ministry were received by the Managing Director of the company, Chief Sohan Bagla into the expansive facility.

Assuring investors of government support, the Commissioner said that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government was intentional about creating an enabling environment not only for the existing business to thrive but also to attract new investors into the Gateway State.

He described the visit as a strategic move to further consolidate on the existing relationship between the State government and industries for a better result.

The Commissioner who appreciated various companies operating in Ogun for their resilience and belief in not just Nigeria but the State despite the present economic situation in the country, pointed out that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

According to him, the present administration has put various reforms in place to strengthen the existence of industries.

“A lot has gone into our land administration system to fast-track the process of getting title documents without delay. We have a Business Enabling Council which consists of strategic stakeholders where we meet regularly to discuss how businesses operating in the State can do well on an incremental basis. The on-going infrastructural upgrade across the State is a demonstration of government willingness to redefine the landscape of Ogun State.

“The Prince Dapo Abiodun led government is focused on creating a conducive environment that will improve business growth and attract new ones. That is the reason we will do all within our means for industries growth so that you can continue to contribute your quota to the development of our dear State and Nigeria at large,” Sofela said.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, said the commitment of the State government to addressing sundry issues bordering on Industry, Trade and Investment was second to none, just as he pointed out that the position of Ogun as the industrial capital of Nigeria was not by sheer luck but hard work.

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AIG, Chief Sohan Bagla, disclosed that the company had been existing in Ogun for 52 years given the strategic location of the State and her laudable policy initiatives .

He assured that his organisation will continue to positively impact its various host communities in its Corporate Social Responsibility engagements without leaving any stone unturned.

On his part, the Group Executive Director of the company Barrister Uche Iwuamadi, described the Gateway State as one of the most peaceful in the country, which he said informed the decision of the organisation to concentrate 60 per cent of its national investment in the State.

While revealing the readiness of the company to increase its investment in Ogun by additional 20 per cent, Iwuamadi lauded the appointment of Mr. Sofela as the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, saying it was a round peg in a round hole considering his knowledge in the all-important sector.
