The Family of Ogunyemi,under Eti -Osa Local government council of Oba’s and Chiefs, Baale Palace Itedo village Lekki,Lagos, has refuted the publication that the Council Of Elders in Itedo community has rejected John Ogunyemi as Baale Of Itedo .
The baale of Itedo Community,Chief John Ogunyemi,told our reporter in his officer that the publication, “Stop parading yourself as Baale” – Elders Of Itedo Community warns John Ogunyemi , was untrue.
Ogunyemi said that the families who are behind the false publication were tenant in Itedo Community since 1967 when his forefathers accommodated them.
The family of Ogunyemi were customary owner of the Itedo community known as ‘ Ileta’ a place were water can not pass, it was the Elegushi royal family who gave ” the place to my forefathers when they discovered that during rainy season the Ogunyemi have issues of water encroachment and no place to stay because we are living by waterside of the ocean”.
According to Baale, the four families namely :Haarrison Ikuegbowo family
Solomon Oroale family
McLean Megba Family and Oduwole Ogunsade family sue the Elegushi family under suit LD/2275/96 of Lagos state high court for bonfide owner of Itedo community.
They claimed that the four families have been ruling and overseeing the affairs of the Itedo community since 1856 during the “Alakoso era”.until 1996.
In 2016 the Elegushi royal family won the suit at the Lagos state high court on 20/12/16 by Judge: T.A.O.Oyekan-Abdullai.
“After the judgement in 2016,his royal highness,Oba Saheed Elegushi nominated me to represent the Itedo community as acting Baale until Sept 28 2018,then i had my chieftain title before the coronation ceremony that took place in Ikate Community on April 27th 2019,we were three in number that had the coronation ceremony”, he concluded.
