Only prayer can eradicate lassa Fever – Cleric says

Latest disease, Lassa Fever has raised eyebrows in Nigeria as it has killed people from different states. It is a disease caused by rat.
The federal government has taken some measures to eradicate it from the country, and some groups too.
Groups embarked on a project to kill rats in markets to prevent further spread of the deadly disease and so far, nothing less than 5,000 rats have been killed.
However, Clerics like Sheikh Yusuf Alibawa, a Sokoto based Islamic cleric believes its prayer that can stop the spread of lassa fever in Nigeria.
He admonished Nigerians to offer special prayers to stop further spread of Lassa fever and other killer diseases in the country.
“Religious leaders of the two major religions of Islam and Christianity should mobilise their followers to seek God’s intervention to prevent the disease from spreading in the country,’’ he said.

He also called on religious leaders to continue to offer similar prayers against the disease and the current security challenges bedevilling the country.
