OPC Leader Adesope Mourns Sheikh Muyideen Bello, Urges Vigilance During Festive Season
The leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (Reformed), Ambassador Oludare Adesope, has expressed his condolences to the Muslim community over the passing of renowned Islamic scholar and preacher, Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello. Describing the late cleric as a man of integrity and truth, Adesope praised his exemplary life, which he said is worthy of emulation by all.
Adesope commended Alhaji Bello for his fearless commitment to truth and for spreading messages that resonated beyond the Muslim community. “He was a truth-sayer, always speaking boldly without fear of anyone except Almighty Allah. His teachings were not limited to Muslims alone but were beneficial to people of other faiths as well. I pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest,” Adesope stated.
The Muslim community was plunged into mourning on Friday, December 6, 2024, following the demise of Alhaji Bello, one of its most respected figures. Born in 1940 in Ibadan, Alhaji Bello was widely recognized for his profound knowledge of Islam and unwavering dedication to promoting Islamic teachings.
In addition to his condolence message, Adesope used the opportunity to urge OPC members across the country to remain vigilant during the festive season, citing an increase in crime rates during this period. “I call on all OPC (Reformed) members, as well as other OPC factions, to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure that criminals have no hiding place in our society. Let us keep our ears to the ground and work collectively to safeguard our communities,” he advised.
Adesope’s call for vigilance highlights the importance of community action and cooperation with security agencies to ensure safety during the festivities.
