Oshiomhole sacked as APC national chairman

A three man panel of the Court of Appeal has affirmed the suspension of comrade Adams Oshiomhole as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

In a judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Lamido, the three man panel dismissed Oshiomhole’s appeal for lacking in merit.

The panel accordingly affirmed the decision of an Abuja High Court which had in early March ordered the suspension of Oshiomhole as APC National Chairman.

In the unanimous judgement in the first appeal delivered by Justice Eunice Onyemenam, the court held that the Federal High Court had territorial jurisdiction to have entertained its seat as it did.

The Appellate court predicated his decision that Mr. Oshiomhole as the first appellant is based in Abuja and that the APC as the 2nd appellant has its Head Quarters in Abuja.

In the judgement on the 2nd appeal delivered by Justice Muhammed Lamido, the Appellate court disagreed with the appellants that their right to fair hearing was breached.

In the unanimous judgement, Justice Lamido said there was no basis for the two appellants to hold that they were denied fair hearing during proceedings at the high court.

Besides, the appellate court further held that the suspension of Oshiomhole from ward 10 Etsako LGA of Edo state was ratified at the ward, Local Government and state level as required by law.

The court further held that the identities of those who suspended Oshiomhole, were not in doubt because in their unchallenged affidavit, they made it clear that they were party members and the officers of the party at the ward, LG and state level held that the appeal of Oshiomhole lacked merit.

The Appellate court also ordered the withdrawal of his rights and privileges as the national Chairman of the APC including the withdrawal of his security details.

Mr. Oshiomhole and APC were the appellants in the 2 dismissed appeals while the respondents Mr. Mustapha Salihu, Mr. Anselm Ojezua, Alhaji Sani Gonna, Oshawo Stephen, Fani Wabulari, Princewill Ejoghogo, the Inspector General of Police and the State Security Service.
