Osun’s chief decomposing body found in the forest, days after declared missing
Osun State police command has arrested four people suspected to have involved in the killing of a community leader in Ora town in Osun State, Chief Oladepo Asaolu.
Chief Asaolu’s decomposing body was reportedly found in a forest days after he was declared missing.
Asaolu was said to have left his house at Kereja, Ora on the October 5, 2022 for an undisclosed location travelling on a commercial motorcycle and since then, he was not seen.
Osun Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Monday, confirmed that the missing Asaolu was buried inside Akisa forest in Ora, after the motorcyclist that conveyed him on the day he went missing was identified and arrested by the police.
Opalola said, “son of Chief Oladepo Asaolu reported to the police that on October 5, his father left his house at Kereja, Ora-Igbomina with an unknown commercial motorcyclist and had not returned after four days.
“Upon investigation, arrest of the motorcylist, Sunday Johnson, was made and he confessed that Asaolu was killed and dumped in the forest.
“The DPO led operatives and vigilantee men in search of Akisa forest, Ora-Igbomina, where the victim was found decomposing. Arrest of Sunday Johnson, the motorcyclist, led to the arrest of three others who have confessed their involvement in the abduction and killing of the victim.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Bureau for further action.”
