The Ogbe-Ijoh Governing Council, Delta State, has exonerated three of its sons from links with the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, over allegations that they were using the group to back the community in attacking Aladja community over the lingering boundary dispute between both communities.
The council in its reacting to reports in some online platform and the social media that three of its sons; Mr. frank Omare, Chief Johnny Arigbogha and Chief Boro Opudu were the brains behind the militant group, described the reports as malicious and a ploy to blackmail their sons.
A statement by the chairman and secretary of the council, Alaowie Alex Akemetubo and Aaron Oweizi-Ebiye, the community said: “Ordinarily, we would not have dignified the sponsors of such reports, but in setting the records straight, the general public should know that linking our sons to criminality is cheap blackmail and the height of wickedness.
“Having served the state in various capacities, it is worthy of note that as peace ambassadors, these our sons have also promoted peace and brotherly love between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities, hence it is laughable to read reports that they are using Avengers to fuel the recent clash between both communities.
“As a community, we can vouch for the unblemished record of these our sons and we are using this opportunity to urge the general public to disregard the reports as there is no iota of truth in them.”
