The OurNigeria News Awards 2024 has announced Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun of Nigeria and Brigadier General Mike Mukokomani of Botswana as recipients of the esteemed TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership. The award recognizes military leaders who have demonstrated exceptional service, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to peace, security, and nation-building.

 

 

The awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. It will bring together distinguished leaders from government, military, business, and civil society to celebrate excellence and inspire progress across Africa.

 

 

According to a press release signed by Sir AK Peters, Chairman of the Editorial Board of OurNigeria News Magazine, Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s military landscape. Renowned for his tactical brilliance, he has played a pivotal role in addressing security challenges across Nigeria and the West African sub-region. His legacy includes modernizing military operations and mentoring future leaders in the armed forces.

 

 

The statement also noted that Brigadier General Mike Mukokomani has significantly influenced regional security in Southern Africa. As a leader in the Botswana Defence Force, he has earned respect for his professionalism, innovation, and commitment to military ethics. His leadership has cemented Botswana’s reputation as a beacon of peace and security on the continent.

 

 

 

The TY Buratai Excellence Award, named after Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), recognizes leaders who have redefined the ethos of military service. It encourages discipline, innovation, and collaboration in tackling Africa’s contemporary security challenges.
