The Rivers state police command have arrested a pastor in Afam, a community in the state, over the death of three persons, Mrs Ada Ezeawa, Uluoma Onweagbo and her nine-month old baby, Christabel Joseph, all members of his church.
Briefing newsmen at the state police command in Port Harcourt, the deputy commissioner of police in the state, Cyril Okoro, said the pastor had been having an amorous relationship with 25 year old Uluoma and then she got pregnant. He denied owning the pregnancy.
On December 13th 2017, Mrs Ezeawa accompanied Uloma to challenge the pastor who has refused to cater for her since she became pregnant for him. When they got to his apartment, the pastor lured Mrs. Ezeawa to an uncompleted building where he killed her.
He then went back to his house where he asked Uluoma to follow him in his tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP to Afam roundabout where they then took a motorcycle to an isolated area in Igberu road. The suspect overpowered Uluoma, used the wrapper she used to strap her 9-month old baby to strangle her, killing her and their unborn baby. He then proceeded to kill Uluoma’s 9-month old child which she had from a different relationship.
“The baby was equally discovered dead. This murder by the suspect is premeditated, callous and devoid of human sympathy,” he said
The suspect has confessed to the crime and has asked family members of the deceased persons to forgive him.
Okoro said the suspect would soon be arraigned court.
