PDP Crisis: Iyorchia Ayu Submits Resignation Letter
The camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has called on the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office.
The supporters of the Governor, over the weekend advised Ayu to fulfil the promise he made before the presidential primary of the party.
They claimed Ayu agreed to resign from office if the presidential candidate of the party comes from the north, which is the same region he is from.
A source who spoke on the issue with ThisDay alleged that Ayu had already signed a resignation letter.
He further stated that the resignation letter is with former President of the Senate, David Mark.
The former member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) who spoke on condition of anonymity charged Mark to speak out on the call for Ayu’s resignation.
It said, “What is Ayu bringing to help Atiku? He should resign if he has honour. After all, he signed the resignation letter that he will resign if the presidential candidate comes from the north. The letter is from David Mark. David Mark should speak out.”
The source who insisted on Ayu resigning added, “Wike lost the presidential ticket and the running mate position. He is asking for the office of the national chairman. If Atiku is sincere, he should allow Ayu to go. He can appoint him as his chief of staff if he wants to earn the trust of Wike and his supporters. We have a lot to contribute.”
