Former Niger state governor, Babangida Aliyu, at the weekend, declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.
He said this at the Niger East senatorial gathering of former state and national assembly members, ex-commissioners and local government chairmen.
In his remarks, Aliyu appealed to eligible citizens to ensure they obtained their voters’ cards ahead of the next elections.
“2019 is the year for PDP we will return to power”, he said.
“When PDP returns to power, we will ensure people are given their rights; no Nigerlite will go to bed hungry”, he said.
Aliyu also reacted to the recent defection of some of its members to the APC.
He said those who left are not heavyweight and their exit won’t affect the chances of the PDP.
“Our party remains solid and poised for victory next year”.
State chairman of the party Alhaji Tanko Beji described those that recently defected to the APC.
“When we win election next year and they want to return, we will not accept them”.
“We are the party to beat next year. We will be transparent and fair in its decision making policies”, the chieftain added.
