Petrolex Denies Protest By Contractors At Lagos Office

Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji
*ABEOKUTA* – Management of Petrolex Oil and Gas Limited has enjoined members of the public and other stakeholders to disregard allegations of a protest by aggrieved contractors at its Head Office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The company said there was no protest whatsoever by contractors or anyone at all, at any of its facilities adding that the people in the ‘protest’ picture circulated are journalists and members of staff, “whom we can comfortably identify, and the picture which was taken during a media tour, was first published on December 11, 2017 on Africa Oil and Gas Report”.

In a Press Release signed by the company’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wale Ewemide stressed that, “In the past few weeks, our Chairman, Segun Adebutu has been in Europe, meeting with partners in an attempt to attract Foreign Direct Investments into Nigeria. Incidentally, a Russian news platform reported that he was at the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation to discuss Russian-Nigerian cooperation and potential investments in the oil and gas sector.

“Through a series of substantial investments, Segun Adebutu has demonstrated that he is kind and humane, as far as businessmen can be. He is also a local content champion, resolute in his belief that there is talent and creativity embedded within the Nigeria society and that bright minds among us can achieve great things. This is why most of our contractors are indigenous, despite the monumental size and implications of the projects at the mega oil city. His Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu Foundation (OOAF) has also adopted over 400 children and sponsored them to school.
“We use this medium to clear all doubts and assuage the concerns of people who are acquainted with Petrolex and the legacy projects being embarked on by the company. The protest claims are false and targeted at maligning the image of our company and our chairman, Segun Adebutu”.

The PRO pointed out that, its remains unwaveringly committed to its vision to redefine Africa’s energy space and empower more Nigerians in the next couple of years.
“Our current projection is to employ 10,000 people directly and indirectly and impact over 2 million lives while improving distribution of petroleum products by over 500 percent.

“As a socially responsible firm, we value all stakeholders, including our vendors and contractors. We wish to reiterate our commitment to treat all who do business with us fairly”.
