The Police in Ondo State said on Sunday that it had arrested another Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Basha, in the Isua Akoko area of the Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State on Sunday.
This came six days after one of the leaders of the deadly sect, Idris Babawo, aka Dikko, was arrested in the same location by the state police command.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the suspect was arrested by the men of the Anti-Crime Unit of the command while loitering along the Isua-Ifira Akoko Road.
He said, “When the suspect was interrogated, he confessed that he was a member of Boko Haram. He said his father is from Niger Republic, while his mother is from Maiduguri in Borno State.
“He said when Maiduguri was hot for him, he ran to Nasarawa State last month and he left Nasarawa yesterday (Saturday) and came down to the South-West to hide here.
“He also confessed that one Daffo is his team leader, while Shekau is still the overall leader of the group.”
Joseph said some items suspected to be charms were recovered from the suspect, adding that Basha was still in the protective custody of the command.
