Police kills Two Kidnappers in gun battle, recovers 8 vehicles

 

 

Two notorious kidnappers were killed yesterday night in a gun battle with men of Rivers State Police Command.

A statement issued by the spokesperson for the Command, DSP Omoni Nnamdi said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Command,  while following up a case of kidnapping, played along with the kidnappers who were waiting for a ransom.
The Operatives traced them to a forest in Umuebulu, Etche LGA, where the kidnapped victims namely: Amadi Okey ’m’ Comrade Stanley Odioye ‘m’ and Princess Maduegbulam ‘f’ were blind folded and being guarded by four armed men.

The hoodlums on sighting the Police engaged them in a gun battle and in a return fire, two of the hoodlums were fatally wounded, while the other two escaped with bullet wounds. The hostages were rescued immediately and released to their families after being debriefed.

Items recovered from the kidnappers include two locally made guns and 10 cartridges. Operatives are still combing the bushes with a view of arresting the fleeing hoodlums and recovering their Operational weapons.

The Command is appealing to the public for continued support and cooperation as we are irrevocably committed to the onslaught against criminals.

The Suspects were interrogated, confessed and led Operatives to a car stand at Osisioma along Aba/Enugu Express Way, where Chibuna Onyema ‘m’ and Lambert Nwodu ‘m’ were arrested and Eight suspected stolen cars recovered from them.

The recovered cars are as follows:

(1) One Nissan Pathfinder Jeep with Reg.No DU 746 PHC
(2) Toyota Sienna space wagon with Reg. No SKP 87 DO
(3) Lexus RX 300 Jeep with Reg. No FST 880 BS
(4) Toyota Avensis with Reg. No ANK 23 BF
(5) Mercedes Benz ML 320 Jeep with Reg. No WER 598 EM
(6) Toyota Rav 4 Jeep with Reg. No WWR 588 ST
(7) Ash Colour Volvo car with Reg. No. PHC 455 AA
(8) Mercedes Benz ML no Reg. No.

The suspects are cooling their heels and helping the Police in Investigation.
