Police To Arrest Farida Abdukabir Who Attempted Suicide Over Failed Marriage

The Lagos Police Command is expected to arrest Farida Abdukabir, the popular socialite and businesswoman, who tried to end her life after the collapse of her marriage after 8 weeks.

Farida Abdukabir aka House of Phareedah almost committed suicide on Third Mainland bridge after her husband, Ademola Okunlaja abandoned her and went back to her former girlfriend, after their society wedding that gulped about N100 million.

According to a video a witness shared online, Farida drove to a section of the bridge, parked her vehicle, and was about to jump into the lagoon when some motorcycle riders and motorists prevented her from committing suicide.

News making the rounds has it that the single mother of three decided to marry Ademola Okulaja so as to have a husband and a companion to share her life and love with.

She spent over N100 million for the wedding with Okunlaja who returned from prison. Not only that, she bought a Benz G Wagon for the man who later packed out of the matrimonial home to be with his former lover he was dating before he married the cosmetologist.

The Saturday Times learnt that Fuji musician, K1 De Ultimate performed at the occasion.

Recall that there have been increased incidents of people committing suicide by jumping in the lagoon and drinking poisonous substance to end their life.

Last week a man jumped into the Lekki bridge end of the Lagoon. His body was recovered few days later.

Interestingly, stories emerged that problems started when Fareeda read messages from Demola’s lover, Yemisi, who reminded him that what he was doing was not what they planned; that their agreement was for Demola to look for a woman who will have children for him.

A source revealed that Yemisi vowed that Demola’s marriage to the businesswoman would not last, claiming that Demola is with the rich woman because of her money.

Out of anger, Fareeda called Yemisi and warned her to leave Demola for her, swearing and cursing her. Yemisi then reported the case to Demola. Angered by Phareeda’s action, Demola packed out despite Phareeda’s pleas. Then the heartbroken woman decided to commit suicide.

“Why would someone commit suicide?” a relationship expert queried. Mrs. Mary Onyema, who counsels people on relationship said: People should know that no condition is permanent. People pass through worst cases and still not consider suicide.” She advised people not to give up no matter the challenges they may face because there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.”

She further said women are at the receiving end when it comes to heartbreak, noting that it’s not the end of life.

“Nobody has it all, we just have to encourage ourselves and forge ahead with hope and act in the direction of our goal. Keep hope alive,” Onyema advised women.

Commenting on the story of the woman that attempted to commit suicide, she said the socialite should hold herself together so as to overcome her present predicament. “People are going through a lot. I hope she gets all the help and support she needs to overcome the “demons” troubling her,” she added.
