Just recently, multiple award winning lawyer, poet, writer & public speaker, Olumide Akindiya got married to one, Esther Adun, a graduate of hospitality management at Ikoyi registry on the 5th of October, 2016.
They equally had their traditional wedding at one, Trio Nursery & Primary School at Ogijo in Ogun State on the 8th of October, 2016. It was a surprise to many as the wedding was planned to be a low-key wedding and selected individuals were present as guests. The turn-out was also affected by Local Government Election being conducted in Ogun State, but families and guests came at different time: before, during and after the said election just to grace this august wedding.
Bride, groom, their families and guests appeared in different attires. What was clear was that both bride and groom families stone the wedding with aso-ebi. The traditional wedding which started with open prayer followed the usual modes of traditional wedding and with cutting of cake in which the design portrayed traditional belief. What excited people also was the fact that the groom was able to carry her bride despite being taller and fatter than he is. Smile! The wedding was replete with joy and show-off by the families, who did not only danced but shared gifts with other guests who deemed it fit. We discovered that groom made the wedding a surprise to many as it was limited to certain individuals as his closest associates, learned senior colleagues, organisers of awards he received were absent including organisers of Kaduna Entertainment Award 2016 who recently gave his law firm (Olumide Akindiya & Co.) award as Best Entertainment Supporting Law Firm on the 30th of September, 2016 in Kaduna State were not equally present or not invited.
Our correspondent’s telephone conversation with the groom 3 days after the wedding on why this secret wedding was a low-key? He only replied that, that was the wish of his in-law’s family in which him, being non-socialised person agreed to it. To him, it is not about number of people present, but quality of people that should be at the wedding and the wedding and not the ceremony. So the journey of the wedding just started. He also agreed to the fact that his wife had qualities which made him concluded to marry her after series of tests according to his belief on marriage. He described his wife as charming, light-in-complexion, hardworking, supportive, understanding, enduring, motivating and God fearing lady. He was however, happy that he got married to his twin – bone of his bone.
He also presented a portrait to his wife, Esther which comprised his romantic poem for her, titled, ‘My Twin – My Compensation from God.’ On clarifying why the use of compensation from God, he responded that not by pride, he had offered free legal services, legal advice, add value to people and humanitarian services to the public. Most importantly, his sacrifice on settling marital issues why divorce is the last option. He agreed that his TV interview almost 2 years ago on Miliki Express at Orisun TV on marital issues further paved way for him to assist couples despite being single then.
According to his wife, she just got married to a humble, intelligent, God fearing, considerate, hard-working, romantic personality with integrity. To her, the marriage would be worthy of emulation as she had made up her mind to make it work.
We also extend our congratulatory wishes to this newly couple, Barr & Mrs. Akindiya. We at Sahara Weekly Magazine also rejoice with our general counsel, Barrister Olumide Akindiya and we wish him blissful marital life with his beautiful wife.
