POULTRY ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA CELEBRATES 2020 WORLD EGG DAY: Eat Your Egg Today And Everyday! – #WorldEggDay
Egg is the most suitable food for human consumption. It has not less than 98% body absorption rate. It is a dietary mainstay, not only for breakfast but to feed needing kids, it only stands in for a quick lunch or supper.Though, for many decades back, eggs had an unwholesome reputation! It was termed villainous because of cholesterol content! After many years of unsubstantiated claims, which made many to shun eggs eating or mere eating the white part!, then, the American Heart Association (AHA) revised its dietary guidelines and recommended an egg a day for an adult!
LET US EAT EGGS :Relying on Science and with the recommendation of AHA, we can always enjoy the wonderfully nutritious egg! Egg contains the highest biological value for protein. One egg has 75 calories with 7 grams of high quality protein, 5grams of fat, and 1.6grams of saturated fat, along with iron, vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids.
The egg is a powerhouse of disease- fighting nutrients like Lutein and Zeaxanthin. These carotenoids reduce the risk of age- related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in older adults. Eggs consumption enhances brain development and memory due to its choline content!
EGG : A satisfying source of protein – Another good reason to eat eggs is that, they keep you feeling full! 2 boiled eggs as breakfast would keep the stomach full until lunch. As you face the challenge of losing weight, it’s important to eat foods that are naturally nutrient- rich and stave off Hunger between meals ; The egg is an “excellent example. As we celebrate this year’s WORLD EGG DAY, with the theme ” EAT YOUR EGG TODAY AND EVERYDAY ” we at the Poultry Association of Nigeria, Remo Zone of Ogun State chapter, emphasize the importance of eggs in our daily nutrition and encourages people (both young & old) to include egg in their daily diet.
