Preservation of Environment Is Sacrosanct — Ogun HoS

Preservation of Environment Is Sacrosanct — Ogun HoS

Ogun State Public and Civil Servants have been called upon to preserve the environment wherever they find themselves, in order to prevent unwholesome development.

Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, made the call while planting a tree, alongside the Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, some Permanent Secretaries and Directors, to celebrate his retirement from Ogun State Civil Service, organised by the Ministry of Forestry, at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Mr. Fagbohun noted that history was being made as the planting symbolises planning for the future, saying all hands must be on deck to ensure that trees are planted regularly to nurture and beautify the environment.

He appreciated Engr. Oludotun, for the initiative to honour him, adding that his skill as a good team player has enhanced the Ministry’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) drive and commended staffers for holding the fort by not allowing any negative report to emanate from the Ministry.

“I am glad that the day is here. I thank the Honourable Commissioner and his team for this honour bestowed on me. The good feedback I am getting from the Ministry is encouraging and I am happy you’re enhancing IGR. I hereby urge you all to keep doing your best as the day of reckoning will soon come”, the HoS said.

In his remarks, Commissioner in the Ministry, Engr. Oludotun, said the event was a demonstration of the importance of Public Servants to the present administration and the state at large, as well as an avenue to educate on the benefits of trees, “because life is given as trees are planted”.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Timothy Olatunji, said the event was borne out of honouring top Civil Servants to commemorate their bowing out of active service to give them a remembrance and a sense of belonging.

Highlight of the event was the planting of trees by the HoS, followed by the Commissioner, some Permanent Secretaries and four Directors from the Bureau of Service Matters and Office of the Head of Service.
