PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS SHAMSELDEEN BABATUNDE OGUNJIMI AS ACTING ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).
This appointment takes immediate effect, following the commencement of pre-retirement leave by the current AGF, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein.
President Tinubu’s decision ensures a seamless leadership transition in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) while sustaining the ongoing treasury policy reforms of his administration.
Mr. Ogunjimi, a seasoned public servant, is the most senior director at the OAGF. With over 30 years of experience in financial management across both public and private sectors, he is well-equipped to oversee Nigeria’s treasury operations.
His career highlights include serving as the Director of Funds at the OAGF and the Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A highly qualified professional, Mr. Ogunjimi holds certifications as a chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and chartered security and investment specialist. He earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting.
Commenting on the appointment, President Tinubu said:
“The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation plays a critical role in managing our nation’s treasury. I am confident that Mr. Ogunjimi’s extensive expertise and proven competence will ensure the continued efficiency of this vital institution as we implement our economic reform agenda.”
The President also commended the outgoing AGF, Dr. Madein, for her dedication and exemplary service to the nation.
Dr. Madein will officially retire on March 7, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age for civil servants.
