Prestige Newspaper Unveils Top 50 Role Models, Engr. Oludotun, Justice Bakre, Tunde Lemo Make List

 

 

 

Prestige Newspaper has unveiled its highly anticipated list of Top 50 Role Models in Ogun State, and three notable individuals, Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Oludotun Taiwo, renowned banker and former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo, and Justice Bakre made the list for their outstanding contributions to society.

The list, which was unveiled today at the book launch ceremony in Abeokuta by the Prestige Newspaper, an “Oldest community Newspaper” highlights individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, and commitment to the development of Ogun State.

The book, the third in the series, celebrates 50 Nigerians who have made significant contributions to the development of Ogun State.

According to the Publisher/CEO, Mr. Dada Olanipekun, the honorees include technocrats, administrators, politicians, paramilitary personnel, and other professionals who have demonstrated sterling qualities worthy of emulation.

The Publisher said ” Although, those being celebrated in this edition are not entirely indigenes of Ogun State, the authors have found their contributions to the state worthy of emulation and documentation for posterity.

“These sterling qualities have made it unavoidably necessary to beam the search light on them, hence they are being celebrated.”

The top role models, Olanipekun said had been painstakingly chosen as a result of their contributions to the development of state.

The Commissioner for Forestry in Ogun State, Engr. Oludotun Taiwo popularly known as (Twinny) who is among the 50 Top Role Models has been instrumental in driving sustainable forest management practices in the state.

Engr. Oludotun is the current Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry. He was appointed in 2023 due to his deep commitment in giving Ogun State a focused and qualitative governance in the “Building Our Future Together Agenda” of the Ogun State Governor.

A Registered Engineer with the Council of Registered Engineers in Nigeria (COREN), Engr. Taiwo was a member of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Metering Code Panel between 2010-2012.

A pragmatic Engineer driven by his vision to make positive impact, Engr. Oludotun Taiwo worked with Energy Prepayment Meter Manufacturer firm – Unistar Hi-Tech Systems Ltd, Lagos where he rose to the position of General Manager before his resignation in 2015 to pursue his political ambition.

Due to his policy development experience and leadership skills, Engr. Hon. Taiwo was appointed as the Ogun State Commissioner for Rural Development in 2020 where he played a critical role in driving inclusive and sustainable development in rural areas of Ogun State, improving the quality of life for rural residents, and promoting social and economic progress in the Gateway State, the position he resigned to contest for a honourable seat in the Federal House of Representatives.

He obtained his National Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineering from the then Ogun State Polytechnic (Now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic), Ojeere, Abeokuta, Ogun State in 1996 and Higher National Higher National Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering from the famous Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in 2001. He successfully completed his mandatory National Youth Service Corps in Delta State in 2003. In the quest to broaden his knowledge, he went to the prestigious Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso for his Post Graduate Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering, where he graduated in 2010 in flying colours. Not resting on his oars, Engr. Hon. Taiwo later had the opportunity to attend the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, USA, where he obtained a Certificate in Public Utility Regulation & Strategy in 2009.

Engr. Oludotun Taiwo has actively participated in various technical and management trainings, workshops, seminars and conferences, both locally and internationally. His contribution to humanity has been recognized by various NGOs and he has earned several outstanding awards and accolades from various recognized bodies.

Engr. Hon. Oludotun Taiwo is happily married with children.
