The commander and Oc anti cultism unit Edo State Police Command, Prince Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday bagged an award of excellence for his doggedness in fighting cultism and other numerous crimes in the state.
The award ceremony was held at the Nigeria Union of journalists (NUj) Edo state council secretariat GRA Benin City to climax the 2019 Press Week.
Presenting the award on behalf of the president of the Union Chief Chris Isiguzor, chairman Edo state council Sir Roland Osakue, eulogised the sterling qualities of Prince Abubakar in fighting crime and his unwaivering stand against the spate of cultism and other violent crimes in the state.
Osakue said that the union decided to honor him to continue to do more for the people of the state.
The NUJ chairman said since assumption of office as the commander and Oc anti cultism/anti fraud unit, there has been major reduction in the area of cultism and other related crimes in the state.
“We are honoring him today for his doggedness in reducing the spate of cultism and other violent crimes in the state”.
Responding, the awardee (Prince Mohammed Abubakar) who was extremely elated said he was short of words about the award and the body that has decided to honour him with the award. .
described the award as unusual and thanked the NUJ for finding him worthy enough for an award.
He said he did not know that his little effort he puts in his job could be noticed and rewarded by such a reputable body that helps shapes the society.
He described Nuj as the mirror of the society that can make or destroyed anyone and promised to do more until the people of the state can sleep with their two eyes closed.
