The Prince Of Island, Isokpehi Obas John speaks on harnessing African potential in music.

Can we meet you Sir?
My name is Isokpehi Obas John, the CEO Striker Entertainment. I love music and harnessing the great potential of our youth.
How was your growing up like because we believe you were not born with a silver spoon?
I grew up as a regular kid from the block, growing up wasn’t that Rosy. I went through a lot of struggles but still kept my head up high. You know that consistence is the best currency to Success so I kept on pushing despite the obstacles and Thank God today, I’m impacting our society and giving back to our community.
In Society today,  Some calls you Striker while some calls you Prince of Island so how did you come about the
name?
Striker is a name that was given me to me by my basketball coach in person of Coach Noik (Lagos Islanders) of the old days, I was a point guard and also a shooting guard. I play position 1/2 if you understand basketball you should know what I mean so Anywhere I go people started calling me Striker, Prince of the Island because I was living at Lagos island then. I love the name so Striker to me will soon became a global brand and just just an alias of one person.
As an entrepreneur who has been contributing to entertainment industry in Nigeria and Uganda and  as the record label owner and CEO  striker entertainment, what are your projects in Nigeria and Uganda?
I have a Publishing company that manages such brands and trademarks, coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos; also conducting talent scouting and development of new artists. Its a whole lot just to harness Talents in Africa and reward excellence.
What has been your driving force to succeed and to invest in entertainment industry despite the fact that there are scare resources?
The passion for music, I love music but I may not have the voice. Music Industry is the biggest in the world and I’m contributing my quota at home and abroad. So far you are an African with talent Striker entertainment will find you and help you make life out of your talent. Also Remember former America President, Benjamin Franklin once said “Do not think of what your country can do for you but think of what you can do for your country”
Government can’t do everything so we just must look for a way to strike the balance.
Your words of advice for the Youth?
Violence doesn’t resolved issues but dialogue does. Be consistent in what God has endowed you with and always acknowledge him then He will make a way for you.
