Prof. Kgoroane Martha Molope Honored with UN Global Leadership Award and Special Envoy Title

 

In a momentous recognition of her unwavering dedication to social empowerment and community development, Professor Kgoroane Martha Molope of South Africa has been selected  together with other 30 distinguished African change-makers to receive the prestigious United Nations Global Leadership Award and Special Envoy  2025. 

This accolade underscores her exceptional contributions to humanitarian efforts and advocacy for gender equality, particularly through her foundation’s transformative initiatives.

Professor Molope, the Founder and CEO of the Ramanthle Molope Foundation, has been at the forefront of community upliftment, focusing on education, poverty alleviation, and women’s empowerment. Her remarkable work has touched countless lives, offering hope and tangible support to marginalized communities.

The award ceremony is set to take place during the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW69), scheduled from March 10th to 21st in New York. 

Focusing on the review and assessment of the progress made since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the 23rd special session of the General Assembly. This year’s deliberations aim to address the pressing challenges impacting gender equality and the empowerment of women within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

 

Expressing her gratitude for the UN recognition, Professor Molope remarked, “I am humbled to be selected alongside such incredible African change-makers. This award is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective efforts of everyone working tirelessly to uplift our communities. I remain committed to the cause of empowering women and marginalized groups.”

 

Her enduring motto, ‘Phela of Phedishe’—meaning ‘Live and help others to live’—continues to inspire her philanthropic journey. As she takes on the mantle of a UN Special Envoy, her advocacy is set to reach even greater heights, fostering sustainable development and social transformation on a global scale.
