Purchasing of New fighter jet is unacceptable – AMEN president

By Ifeoma Ikem

The president of Association Manufacturer Entrepreneur Of Nigeria (AMEN), Prince Savior Iche has described the purchase of 24 new fighter jets as a sign of failure on the part of government.

Iche who said this in an interview with newsmen noted that Nigeria is not fighting any war with any country.

“Why must the president spend 1.5m euros to purchase fighter jets? it’s not acceptable, I stand for the voice of the voiceless which I represent.

” What happened to the previous ones they acquired since inception of this administration from 2015 till date? I believed he has bought uncountable private jets and armoured cars, what is the impact of the ones we had before?

“These people are playing with the Nation’s intelligence ,is it to kill the unemployed youth,” he queried.

He noted that if the government had invested half of the money in local manufacturing, insecurity and other issues that make lives unbearable across the nation such as bandit, kidnapping and unknown gunmen would have been minimised.

“Some of the people that turned to the of crime did so because they have no job as a result of government’s failure”.

According to him, ‘If government can be advised because they are not advancing appropriately the world is laughing at us what are we doing with 24 fighter jets? even Russia and Ukraine fight did not prompt them to buy up to such, what has happened to the ones we had before, who are you trying to kill, is it your own people? he asked.

He noted that the people creating insecurity problem want to get work but can’t find.

“like the saying an idle mind is the devil’s workshop, they are doing this out of frustration so one should call this government in order and direct them because they are misleading us.

” It is so unfortunate that even the national assembly who could have called the president to order have their own excesses and unnecessary expenses and that’s why they are keeping quiet.

“If am not mistaken, the money would have been budgeted on credit, no wonder most of these people that are directing the government are directing them for their own selfish interest”.
