A 58 year old Pastor, Chris McDouglas Omosokpea, of the Peculiar Generation Assembly Church, who was accused of raping of a teenage church member for four years has said it was the devils work.
Omosokpea, whose church is at 17/19 Mutiatu Kayode Street, off Ayodele Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos ignored an earlier invitation by the police when the story first broke, claiming he was misled by his lawyer and wife.
The pastor who pleaded for forgiveness when brought back to the Makinde police station Oshodi, after he refused to honour the earlier invitation over alleged rape blamed the devil for his action.
According to him, ` this family is my close family who made sure I never lacked anything, I did not know if their father will ever forgive me for my sinful act.
“As a man of God so trusted by the family members, what I did was wrong.
“If the law will give me another chance, I will never do this kind of thing again. I disobeyed you by not honouring your invitation, my lawyer misled me’’.
Reacting to the latest development in the case, Mr Ebenezer Omejalile, the Coordinator of Advocates for Children and Vulnerable People Network (ACVPN) advised people to be honourable.
He said they should always look out for children and the vulnerable in the society and not to use their offices to perpetrate injustice.
