Residents and motorists along the Ilishan Market Road, which was in the most deplorable condition until recently, have expressed joy over the intervention of the Ogun State Government under Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR.
The 1.2km road had most of its stretch failed, leaving large potholes scattered all over and bringing untold hardship mostly to motorists conveying goods inward and outward the popular, busy market.
According to the Hon. Commissioner for Works in the State, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, following the recent commencement of the reconstruction project, drainage is already being cast, with major progress recorded. Significantly, access slabs have been constructed on the drainage.
The Commissioner, when giving a general description of the project, stated that the work is set to be completed in Q3 2021. He added that for this to be achieved, earthwork and asphalt paving will begin in earnest after drainage casting is completed.
On completion, the road will bring the much expected relief to residents, motorists and particularly, traders whose businesses may have been affected by the previous condition of the road.
Engr. Akinsanya advised caution on the side of road users, as engineers continue work on site.
