One of the best female pop/gospel musician in Nigeria in the 90s, Esse Agesse, is ‘broke’ and has taken up a nursery school teacher job in Dublin, Ireland to make ends meet.
The beautiful songstress who left the country some years ago after her marriage to celebrated music producer and Nollywood actor, Kingsley Ogoro crashed is now planning to come back to Nigeria to relaunch the music career she abandoned some years back.
Esse said, “It used to be every year for me to come home before, however, in recent years, I haven’t been home due to financial reasons.
I took up a Learning and Development Executive job (a blended approach to learning such as coaching, classroom training, 1-2-1 sessions, action learning & e-learning.) and I volunteer as a mentor with a renowned children organisation. I am very much involved in my church, RCCG Freedom Hall, Mallow Ireland. My work with Women Of Love International in advocating for girl-child’s education is also a personal journey I’ve been struggling with for a while. I have chosen to work with a dear friend, Ini Usanga who champions a cause for women and children here under her organisation, Love and Care for People Worldwide. The cry for the education for children and the girl child in particular cannot be over emphasized.”
The delta state born singer was at a time a toast among politicians in Delta State and she was once a deputy governor aspirant under the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP). She said life away from Nigeria has not been easy but bearable and that she regrets abandoning her musical career when she did.
“The only regret is probably not focusing on my musical career. As for marriage, since I’ve been in Ireland, I’ve not been seeing any man but, if a responsible man can come along, maybe I’ll jump at the offer. I can date or marry a younger lover if he has a mature mind and as long as he doesn’t expect children as well because am done with child bearing. So, I still have marriage plans if, the right man comes along.”
