Save us from another impending disaster – Alimosho residents beg Lagos State govt.

Some residents of Isheri/Ijegun by Ijedodo junction under Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State have begged the state government to save them from the impending disaster of continuous activities of oil thieves siphoning PMS from NNPC pipeline on daily basis.

The residents made the call on Sunday, barely 48hours after the State Commissioner of Police , Mr Idowu Owohunwa visited the scene where some suspected vandals vandalized NNPC Pipeline to steal its contents known as
Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

The residents accused the police of guarding the people who siphon the PMS.

They said that oftentimes the activities of the illegal exercise cause unnecessary traffic gridlock on the road, knowing fully well that there is no other accessible road for the residents to make use of.

According to the residents, the vandals do not hide themselves any longer due to the presence of policemen who guard them in committing such criminal activities instead of making arrests.

A businessman, Mr Segun Idris who resides in the area said that the same police officers who claim to have foiled an attempt by hoodlums to steal PMS products from NNPC Pipeline in Idimu area still guard hoodlums in stealing from the pipeline in this area.

“We don’t know where to report to or give out information because they will come after us, how can an officer who is supposed to protect and guard the citizens be the one guarding criminals, he queried .

Another resident who gave his name as Oga Tony said that they have reached the NNPC officials yet nothing has been done.

“These hoodlums come during wee hours with their big jerrycans to siphoned pms contents.

“With the current security situation across the nation one need to be careful.

“Sometime ago, the activities of these vandals in Alimosho led to the loss of many lives and properties yet people still engage in carrying out this notorious act in which they are fully aware of its dangers.

They noted that Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were the ones previously guarding these pipelines within Alimosho area but for some period now nobody had noticed their presence any more.
