In Abuja, The All Progressive Congress (APC) declared that the party has no preferred candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi on Thursday.
Sen. Osita Izunaso APC Organising Secretary, who was represented by the Director Administration, Abdullahi Yusuf Gashua, revealed this during the presentation of forms to the governorship aspirants, Alhaji Yahava Bello. He said : “APC stands for change and the party has no preferred candidate and it will prepare a level playing ground for every aspirant.’’
Izunaso urged the aspirant to give an undertaking that he will abide and play by the rule of the game and support any aspirant that emerges as the party’s candidate. He also urged the aspirant and his supporters to conduct themselves in an orderly manner no matter the outcome of the party primaries
In his response, Bello said he was on a historic rescue mission to salvage the “Confluence State from the grip of a few cabal who have underdeveloped the state.
“Today, we are commencing on a historic journey. A journey to liberate ourselves,’’ he said.
He promised to run a rancor-free campaign and uphold the rule of law and provisions of the party’s constitution regarding the governorship contest.
Bello was given a Nomination and an Expression of Interest forms after paying the sum of N5 million and N500,00 respectively into the party’s bank account.
