A Nigerian student, Obinna Darumchukwu, who turns 34 on Saturday, has been killed in India by his roommate who also is a Nigerian. It was reported that the duo had a heated argument over a soccer game at their Nalasopara home on Sunday, March 6.
Times-of-India reports that the victim celebrated his 34th birthday on Saturday, March 5, he and his roommate were partying at their Agarwal Nagri home in Nalasopara.The party went on till 9am on Sunday. Both were drunk. They got into a fight and hurled empty glass bottles on each other.
The roommate picked up one such glass piece lying on the floor and stabbed Obinna on his neck. He died on the spot. Neighbours who heard the screams alerted the Tuling police. The roommate, whose name is given as Michael Chukwuma, has been arrested.
Police said the fight was stirred by a dispute over who is greater between Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
Adding that Obinna’s passport had expired on January 24, 2016 and he was staying illegally.
Tulinj police spokesman, Inspector Sunil Jadhav told PTI that Chukwuma has been arrested and a case under section 302 (murder) of IPC has been registered and investigations are underway.
