Skala Klubb of “Great Ife” Celebrates 40th Anniversary Amidst Pomp and Pageantry
It was glitz and glamour as founder of Punch Newspaper, Chief Olu Aboderin was given a Posthumous Award when Skala Klubb celebrated its 40th anniversary with a reunion party in Lagos.
The association formed in the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awalowo University) Ile Ife, Osun State, in 1979, boasts of notable names in many sectors of Nigeria.
The 40th anniversary, reunion party and award giving ceremony held at Protea Hotel, Victoria Island, had the alumni of the “Great Ife” reminiscence about the glorious activities of Skala Klubb in the institution and the way forward.
The Skala Klubb pioneered the beauty pageant in the Obafemi Awalowo University.
Guests at the event which comprises members of Skala Klubb (Skalites), family and friends include, Dr Austin Izagbo (Pioneer President of Skala Klubb), Oliver Nwoko, Dapo Akin Osu, Ayo Vaughan, Tinubu Akinrande, Olusoja Bashola, Timi Sikoki, Patrick Ugboh, Emmanuel Ogwu and Dolapo Kuforiji.
Others were Dr Bola Oshinowo, Florence Izagbo, Ify Izagbo, Excel Oliver, Ovo Longe, Tokunbo Talabi, Mrs Ayo Vaughan, Andy Isiomo, Nosa Martin Ateche, Sami Arugundade, Emmanuel Ijomah, Ify Aroloye, Victor Nweze and Ayo Irochie.
Award recipients at the event were Dr R.B Tinubu, Dr. Austin Izagbo, President Skala Klubb 1976 – 1978,
Rotimi Olukoga, President 1978_1979 and other past Presidents. Punch Newspaper also clinched a corporate award.
New members were also inducted into Skala Klubb. The inductees included members of the Klubb’s family.
The inductees were Pastor Mrs Izagbo, Dalopo Kuroji, Oliva-Nwoko Excel Bienose, Olamide Kuforiji, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya, Ify Izagbo, Barr. Timi Sikoki, Tinubu Akintunde and Prince Chukwuemeka Okolie, who contested for the federal house of representative Surulere Constituency
