As Nigeria joined the world to mark the 2021 Children’s Day, a non-governmental organization (NGO) Speak Up Nigeria has advised children to keep up their faith alive, noting that they are for signs and wonders.
In a message by the convener of Speak Up Nigeria, a board member of ‘Voice Out Nigeria News,  Amb. Steve Nwose, used the occasion to call on the government to do the needful to improve the life of the children if they must pass governance to the next generation.
“I plead with all meaningful Nigerians to join hands together to attain a better Nigeria. The time is now. We must begin to work together if we will achieve the country we desire.
Nwose urged the Federal Government to give hope to the children by tackling the security challenges across the nation.
“To commemorate the Children’s Day, we ask the Nigerian president what message of hope he has for the 82.8m children in Nigeria, 70 percent of whom live in poverty, over 10 million are out of school, 6 million suffer from acute malnutrition and only 16 percent of children who live in rural communities have full immunization.
He said the current cases of insecurity and abduction of school children is fast becoming a norm and Speak Up Nigeria urges the government to take immediate action to address this menace that continues to threaten the children’s future and the nation.
A member of the Speak Up Nigeria organization, Mr. Godwin Bebia, also urged Nigerians to stand up to defend the nation.
“Nigeria was proud and giant of African, things have gone wrong and our children have no hope again most especially on security.
“With the security situation, our children are living with fear, no week passing without hearing news on school children abduction.
” Our children need to be secured and protected, let the government stand up and tackle this challenge”.
Bebia pointed out that Nigeria needs to be fixed as many things have gone wrong in all the sectors.
“The current situation is worse, less privileged ones can no longer have two square meals a day, there is trouble everywhere so the government needs to find the causes of these problems.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with education.
” What is wrong in that sector needs to be revisited.
“We can not throw away our behavior because we want to improve on academic performance, let us not focus so much energy on academic performance forgetting the academic behavior which is essential,” he added.
We will continued to encourage, support, and show them, love, because their future is laid on our shoulders, the world just celebrate children’s day, are our own children happy? He asked.
