On Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, the TAMPAN Guild of Directors, under the esteemed chairmanship of Ambassador Titi Jeje, organized a remarkable event, combining continuous professional education for Yoruba movie directors with an enthralling award and gala night. The event, held at the prestigious Radisson BLU in GRA, Ikeja, proved to be a resounding success, attended by renowned personalities from the Nigerian film industry.
The event commenced in the morning with an enlightening lecture delivered by industry experts. The primary objective was to update movie directors in the Yoruba movie industry on the latest developments and advancements in their craft. Directors eagerly absorbed knowledge and insights from the experts, enhancing their professional skills and widening their creative horizons.
As dusk fell, the vibrant atmosphere of the venue transformed into an elegant setting for the second part of the event, the award and gala night. Dignitaries and luminaries from the Nigerian entertainment scene, along with esteemed guests, graced the occasion. Notably, the Special Guest of Honour was the esteemed First Lady of Lagos State, whose presence added a touch of grandeur to the evening.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presence and inspiring address by Otunba Bolaji Amusan J.P, the global president of TAMPAN. In his speech, he emphasized the remarkable growth of the industry and expressed his optimism for the future, lauding the efforts of the talented directors who contribute to the industry’s success.
The event saw the presence of distinguished personalities from the film marketing sector, including the Chairman of Corporate Pictures, the visionary boss of Toymax Films, and the esteemed Chairman of Isolak Films, the deletable Channel manager for Africa magic and dynamic chairman of Libratv. Their attendance not only underlined the significance of the event but also showcased their support for the growth and development of the Yoruba movie industry.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the industry, three veteran actors were honoured with prestigious awards. Monsuru Obadina Fala, Ade Ajiboye (popularly known as Big Abass), and Musibau Raheem Abisogun, who have left an indelible mark on the industry, were all deserving recipients of this distinction. Additionally, Abbey Lanre, a veteran director renowned for his exceptional storytelling prowess, was also honoured and celebrated during the gala night.
