Taraba: ‘’Kefas Agbu Has Come To Stay, Don’t Go To Court’’ – Muslims Tells NNPP Candidate, Prof Sani

Muslim communities in Taraba state have urged the candidate of the NNPP in the recently concluded governorship elections, Prof Sani Yahya to forget about going to court to battle the outcome of the election because the winner, Kefas Agbu has come to stay.

INEC had declared the PDP candidate, Kefas Agbu as winner of the governorship election while NNPP’s prof Sani Yahya got the second position but he doesn’t seem to be satisfied with the results and vowed that he will be going to court to ‘reclaim’ his mandate.

It is worthy of note that the Muslim communities supported Prof Yahya massively in the election but they were not enough to give him victory as Kefas Agbu got a wide spread support in the state against all odds.

In a statement sent to this publication in the early hours of today, the Muslim communities that supported Prof Sani advised him to resist going to court to battle the outcome because it may not yield any positive result. They noted that Kefas is equally a good candidate and one who has the interest of Taraba at heart, therefore, going to court in an attempt to upturn his victory isn’t the best option.

Also, they called on Prof Sani to concede defeat, place a call to Kefas and join hands with him to make Taraba move forward since that is the common interest.

‘’We want to call on our beloved son, Prof Sani Yahya who was the candidate of the NNPP in the recently concluded governorship elections to concede defeat and join hands to support Kefas Agbu who was declared as winner of the election by INEC.’’

‘’As Muslims, we supported Prof Sani Yahya because he is our own, we wanted him to win but God has a different plan for the people of Taraba. Only God gives power and He has decided to give it to Kefas Agbu; what can we do?’’

‘’Kefas Agbu is not a stranger to us, He has fraternized with us at different times and is equally a good choice for Taraba. For this reason also, we will give him our full support in his administration with prayers of success for him.’’

‘’Prof Sani Yahya doesn’t need to go to court, the people have spoken, Let’s join hands together to move Taraba forward.’
