Sahara Weekly Reports That The much anticipated 3rd edition of the annual marathon event initiated by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ijebu-North Branch and sponsored by Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun, Adekoya, took place yesterday, 28th December, 2022 with participants cutting across Ijebu-North/Ijebu-East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The marathon started at 6:30AM, with the participants taking off from Ijebu-Igbo under bridge and finishing at Ago-Iwoye City Stadium.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The winners in the male and female categories were handsomely rewarded.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The first positions in the male and female categories received N250,000 each; the second and third positions for both categories got N150,000 and N100,000 each.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Winners in the male category:

1st – Banwo Mayowa from Ago-Iwoye

2nd – Talabi Olaomopo

3rd – Lawal Olaide

 

Winners in the female category:

1st – Miss Asekun Olayemi from Oru-Ijebu

2nd – Adeyemi Anuoluwapo

3rd – Soneye Rebecca

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the same vein, fourth to tenth positions for both male and female categories got N25,000 as consolation cash rewards.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, all participants below the ages of 13 got cash rewards from Rt. Hon. Adekoya as consolation prizes

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rt. Hon. Adekoya, appreciated everyone for showing support and participating in the annual marathon. Furthermore, he encouraged youths to take part in sporting activities and develop their skills. He also used the occasion to affirm his readiness to make this a continuous project as it is an avenue for youth engagement and development. He enjoined the youths to put in their best and stand firm to vote for what is right come 2023.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rt. Hon. Adekoya talked about the stadium saying that the multi-purpose hall is ready; the basketball court is almost ready and the football pitch will also be ready soonest as work will continue after the festive break.
