They started their careers as far back 1998 .The three of them Edward Brown, Tony Tetuila and Idris Abdul Kareem met as friends and came together to form a group known as REMEDIES. To be factual, the group was the first to popularize hiphop style of music in Nigeria with their hit album, shakomo .
The release of this album encouraged others to delve into the hiphop genre, these include performers like Style Plus, Artquake, Plantashion Boys , Rasqie, Harzadous, Sound Sultan and others. In 2008, the Nigerian Breweries organized a musical jam meant to bring their customers together and the event was tagged “THE STAR MEGA JAM” and invited one of America’s hip hop artistes, 50 CENTS. it turned out to be controversial, because Idris Abdul Kareem refused to agree with the organizers on the issue of patronage. The reason is that, while 50 CENTS was boarded on an Executive Flight, Idris Abdul Kareem and other artistes were put on a second class seat, This infuriated the Kano-born rapper who poured out his mind on the issue and this development turned out to be a new development for the Nigerian hiphop artistes and up till date, the genre as been evolving. Today, the style of music as produced the likes of Abolore Adigun, popularly known as 9ice, Olamide of YBNL, Davido of OBO, Whizkid of STAR BOY, Kiss Daniel of G WORLD WIDE, Lil Kesh of YAGI, Korede Bello of MAVINS, Omawunmi Megbele, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Simi, D’ija e.t.c. No doubt, this is a plus for the Remedies Group.
Recently, the crew of SAHARAWEEKLYNG.COM met with both Edward Brown popularly known as Eddy Remedies and Tony Tetuila at the studio where they are cooking up something to re-launch their careers. SAHARAWEEKLYNG.COM is on the trail of this project and we shall be updating our esteemed readers on this.
